AVIS Car Rental - Massive Discount (more than 50% off!)

I've just discovered how to get a massive discount on Avis car rental. I compared renting an Avis car via my dutch Airline company rewards program (KLM Flying Blue - Gold Member) and via an advertisement on TripIt for the same 21 day period for an intermediate car in South Africa. The difference in the Avis price was astonishing, the Tripit-add price was less than half the cost via the KLM program, more than €500 in savings!

There are two ways you can get the discount
1) Create a TripIt account, and create a new trip to the destination you want to go. An Avis advertisement should appear on the first day of your trip. Click on the Avis advert to make a booking (handy that dates are already filled in on the Avis site based on your flights, if these are already entered). Make your booking and enjoy the discount...
2) Go directly to the Avis site, and create your booking and use this AWD to claim your discount - B846000.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated or working for either TripIt or Avis, I just stumbled on this by accident. I don't know how long this will work, and I'm not responsible for any losses/incidents/whatever if you use or try to use this tip, or if it doesn't work.

Enjoy the Discount!

BRIAN

A man walked out to the street and caught a taxi just going by.

He got into the taxi, and the cabbie said, "Perfect timing. You're just like "Brian!

Passenger: "Who?"

Cabbie: "Brian Sullivan. He's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happen like that to Brian Sullivan, every single time."

Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody."

Cabbie: "Not Brian Sullivan. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand Slam a tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy."

Passenger: "Sounds like he was something really special."

Cabbie: "There's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and
which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Brian Sullivan, he could do everything right."

Passenger: "Wow. Some guy then."

Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Brian, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake.

No one could ever measure up to Brian Sullivan."

Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?"

Cabbie: "Well, I never actually met Brian. He died. I'm married to his f****ing' widow."

C60 Redux brings touch back to music

"The concept behind the C60 Redux is this: We've gone from handling vinyl, tapes and CD's to clicking on MP3's, losing tactility in the process and making a casualty of the mix tape. Is it possible to bring that back in a digital way? Bone, Johnson, and a group of IDEO designers endeavored to do so by creating a music player built with RFID readers and some Arduino Mini Pros, all housed in a record player case. See for yourself:"

Carnegie Mellon’s Incredible Robot Snake Climbs a Real Tree

Carnegie Mellon has taught its robotic snake to climb trees, though one hopes it won’t start offering your spouse apples. “Uncle Sam” (presumably named for its red, white, and blue markings) is a snake robot built from modular pieces.
